General Ledger Accountant

 About the Position: The General Ledger Accountant at AOS Interior Environments is an integral member of our Accounting Team. This non-client-facing role owns the day-to-day accuracy of the general ledger from month-end close and payroll to reconciliations and tax filings and plays a key part in delivering timely, reliable financial statements. Our accounting processes are solid, and we’re looking for someone with the initiative to make them even better.

 

Our ideal candidate is an organized, ambitious professional with 5+ years of accounting or finance experience. They genuinely enjoy detailed work, approach the job with independent initiative and judgment, and continually look for ways to improve our accounting processes, procedures, and financial reporting. Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent time management are essential. This person works closely with the Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

As a General Ledger Accountant, you will collaborate across the company, supporting the Accounting Team, Executive Team, Designers/Project Managers, and Installation Team as needed. Key responsibilities include:

  • Month-End Close: Prepare month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, supporting a timely and accurate close and financial statement preparation.
  • Payroll: Accurately process payroll in Paylocity, prepare related journal entries, and ensure all payroll-related payments are made (401(k), insurance, garnishments, etc.).
  • Banking & Cash: Perform bank reconciliations and post cash activity accurately and on schedule.
  • Schedules & Fixed Assets: Maintain schedules for fixed assets, accumulated depreciation and depreciation expense, as well as accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Tax & Compliance: Prepare and file sales and use tax returns (Louisiana and Mississippi), prepare annual 1099s, and support the Workers’ Compensation audit.
  • Inter-company: Process and reconcile inter-company transactions.
  • Project Accounting Support: Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) and deferred revenue schedules tied to client projects.
  • Audit Support: Prepare schedules and documentation for the year-end audit and serve as a point of contact for external auditors.
  • Department Knowledge: Maintain a working knowledge of the full department’s responsibilities, including invoicing (manual and through CORE), accounts receivable deposits and posting, accounts payable, order acknowledgements, and CORE master file maintenance.
  • Process Improvement: Continually seek new methods to streamline, automate, and simplify accounting processes, and recommend amendments to accounting and finance policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Research & Projects: Assist with accounting research and finance projects, including the annual compensation survey and Solomon Coyle benchmarking survey.
  • Documentation: Maintain an organized, easily accessible method of storing processed information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years of recent, relevant accounting experience with a CPA firm or comparable industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and comprehensive knowledge of financial statement preparation.
  • Strong familiarity with account reconciliation.
  • Payroll processing experience (Paylocity preferred).
  • Knowledge of CORE software is a plus.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet, database, and word processing software; advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail with mature organizational, written, and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability — quick to connect dots and reach logical conclusions.
  • Comfortable working in a changing, dynamic environment with the initiative to produce results without direct supervision.
  • All candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and background check as part of the hiring process.

Installer

About the Role: Are you an energetic person who enjoys working with your hands? Do you live for the satisfaction of a job well done? Are you looking for a dynamic, ever changing work environment? Do you have experience executing installations or construction projects? If so, the Installer role at AOS may be for you!

 

As an Installer, you will perform installations, moves and re-configurations per floor plans, manufacturer guidelines, and safety standards to the highest quality and client satisfaction. This role reports directly to a Lead Installer while collaborating with our entire installation team, sub-contractors, project managers, as needed.

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn to install all types of free-standing furniture, panel, and modular systems
  • Follow directions to ensure jobs are completed on-time and on-budget
  • Enjoy interacting and communicating with a variety of people daily
  • Easily gain and maintain the trust and respect of others
  • Be punctual and self-motivated with an ability to work autonomously on a jobsite
  • Confidently take initiative with a can-do attitude to get the job done
  • Conduct yourself in a positive, professional, service-minded manner no matter the situation
  • Obsess about maintaining a safe and tidy work environment
  • Not rest until every part and piece is in place and proper paperwork is completed

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience working on an effective jobsite with a team
  • Strength and flexibility to move, assemble, and install a variety of furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Knowledge in reading and understanding blueprints, installation drawings, and instructions
  • Aptitude for assessing a jobsite and jumping in to help with remaining tasks
  • Familiarity with furniture, wall systems, and/or millwork installation
  • History of staying within man hour goals
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Designer/Project Manager

As a Designer/Project Manager on our Manufactured Interior Construction, Contract Furniture or Specialized Storage teams, you will help take our clients’ needs and ideas from conception to realization by selecting tailored commercial solutions needed to execute their vision. You are responsible for managing an assortment of projects from the planning phase through final completion and delivery. This position works closely with our Business Development team, fellow Designer/Project Managers and Operations team daily.

Internships

Our team is always looking for interns during the spring, summer and fall semesters. Earn school credits while learning from an award-winning team of professionals. As an intern, you will experience a commercial design project from the planning phase through installation. You will be invited to sit-in on client presentations, explore resources, meet with vendors, assist designers, and shadow our designer/project managers and installers. Throughout your internship, you will also be immersed in the rich culture of our firm and broader design community through a number of events and unique learning opportunities.
