East Baton Rouge Environmental Services | AOS Interior Environments
The department of East Baton Rouge Environmental Services (BRES) is one of the largest agencies within City-Parish government. It oversees the delivery of some of the most critical and visible public services provided to residents—from garbage and recycling collection to management of the wastewater system. Designed by RHH Architects and CDI Solutions, their new headquarters help improve customer service and enhance operational efficiency by consolidating their workforce into one central location. Previously dispersed across three separate buildings in East Baton Rouge Parish, the project brought together 100 government employees from four divisions.

East Baton Rouge Environmental Services

The department of East Baton Rouge Environmental Services (BRES) is one of the largest agencies within City-Parish government. It oversees the delivery of some of the most critical and visible public services provided to residents—from garbage and recycling collection to management of the wastewater system. Designed by RHH Architects and CDI Solutions, their new headquarters help improve customer service and enhance operational efficiency by consolidating their workforce into one central location. Previously dispersed across three separate buildings in East Baton Rouge Parish, the project brought together 100 government employees from four divisions.

The design and construction team converted a former car dealership on Florida Blvd. into a two-story office building, featuring open plan workstations, private offices, ample storage, a training room, conference and huddle rooms, break rooms and an outdoor patio. AOS worked with the interior designer CDI Solutions to provide furniture and storage that was on state contract to keep the project within a strict budget. To evoke a sense of place and connection to the natural environment, lots of the blue and green finishes were used throughout the design and within custom upholstery selections. The project creates not only a tailored workspace that is aesthetically pleasing but enhances the physical comfort of employees through ergonomic task seating, height-adjustable desks and monitor arms. The strategic move into one building was intended to foster collaboration, streamline processes, and improve the overall effectiveness of the department’s operations. By housing all employees under one roof, the division can respond more efficiently to the environmental needs of the community.
