Isidore Newman Joy and Boysie Bollinger Performing Arts Building

In the fall of 2022, Isidore Newman School proudly unveiled the Joy and Boysie Bollinger Performing Arts Building, an exciting addition to their Uptown campus. Blending elements of both traditional and contemporary architecture, Woodward Design+Build seamlessly integrated the new building between two existing historic structures on Jefferson Avenue, connecting their past with the future.

The single-story structure creates a dedicated space and an ideal practice facility for Newman’s award-winning band and choir, who previously performed in the school’s gym. It features a variety of multi-functional spaces, including two spacious and acoustically optimized rehearsal rooms. Additionally, three practice rooms offer young talents supplemental areas to refine their skills. Adjacent to the rehearsal rooms, a gallery space highlights student artwork alongside pieces from Newman’s permanent collection. The gallery includes a variety of seating and lounge options so students can hangout or catch up on school work before practice and also so guests have a comfortable waiting area. As a result, the new facility stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education, special arts programming and an inspiring environment for its students.
