07 Jun DESIGN THAT WORKS: NEOCON 2016
Here at AOS, we have our bags all packed and are excited to make our annual pilgrimage to the Windy City for the commercial design industry’s largest annual trade show. Our team will spend three full days getting blown away by all the latest designs, innovations and trends we can expect for the upcoming year.
This year the show, known as NeoCon, will celebrate its 48th year of being a global platform for connecting, learning and conducting business in commercial interiors. NeoCon has become recognized as the most well attended trade show in the industry with over 50,000 design professionals in attendance. Every year these professionals come together with hundreds of leading exhibitors from across key vertical markets including Healthcare, Hospitality, Workplace, Retail, Government, Education and Public Spaces to offer a first-hand look at the latest prototypes and product launches for commercial interiors.
The Merchandise Mart is home base to the NeoCon masses. It encompasses 4.2 million gross square feet, two city blocks and is over 25 stories high. It is the world’s largest commercial building, wholesale design center and one of Chicago’s premier international business locations. The Mart will be flooded with hundreds of exhibiting companies and thousands of new product launches giving unparalleled access to the up to the minute and groundbreaking solutions in commercial design.
A highlight of attending NeoCon is the opportunity to learn from the rising stars as well as the titans of the industry. Our AOS team is especially excited to catch David Rockwell’s keynote speech on Tuesday June 14th. Rockwell is the Founder and President of award-winning architecture and design firm, Rockwell Group. His presentation will highlight the group’s partnership with Knoll and the unveiling of the Rockwell Unscripted and HiLo products in the Knoll showroom.
Rooted in David Rockwell’s innovative approach to hospitality environments and public space, and inspired by his award-winning design for theater and entertainment, Rockwell Unscripted is a comprehensive collection of furniture elements that adapt to the spontaneous choreography of the work day. HiLo addresses two defining shifts in today’s work culture: a focus on well-being, and the rise of untethered, flexible workstyles. Its stability allows users to naturally lean, distributing their weight and supporting healthy shifts in posture.
In addition to the latest from Knoll, our team will be scouting dozens of other showrooms in hopes of bringing home innovative product designs from all our manufacturing partners to better serve the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport and Jackson markets. Follow us throughout the entire trip as we feature journey on Instagram @thinkaos and our AOS Facebook page.
