NeoCon: 50 Years of Tomorrow’s Design

This week our team is off to Chicago for our annual visit to NeoCon, a launch pad of innovation and ideas that shape the built environment.

This year marks NeoCon’s 50th anniversary. Held every June since 1969, NeoCon has served as a vibrant hub, bringing together the commercial design world’s manufacturers, dealers, architects, designers, end-users, design organizations and media for three action-packed days of the latest and most innovative solutions, education seminars and networking.

Watch the video below to learn more about NeoCon’s impact on the commercial design industry:

With nearly one million square feet of exhibition space, NeoCon gathers over 50,000 design professionals on a global platform to explore the latest solutions for Furniture, Fabrics, Flooring, Interior Building Products, Interior Finishes and Technology. From emerging talent to leading companies, we’ll explore new products for the Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail, Workplace, Education, Public Space and Government markets.

To continue the conversation about design, NeoCon recently launched its new podcast series NeoConversations. It’s first episode chronicles the history of NeoCon and how it’s evolving. Listen here to learn what to expect for the 50th celebration.

Knoll is also marking a momentous occasion—it’s 80th anniversary. Along with its modern designs and creative partnerships, Knoll’s enduring legacy is the concept of “total design,” exploring the relationship between architecture, furniture and space. This year’s NeoCon showcase focuses on “Hospitality at Work,” which illustrates the power of hospitality in today’s workplace. Our team is most looking forward to Knoll’s introduction to the Scandinavian brand Muuto, the latest addition to its portfolio of brands. Rooted in Scandinavian design traditions and characterized by enduring aesthetics, functionality and craftsmanship, Muuto creates new design perspectives from its heritage through forward-looking materials, techniques and collaborations with contemporary designers. Of course, Knoll will be presenting new products, including the Marc Newson Aluminum Chair and a Light Task Chair by Glen Oliver Loew, and reintroducing classics, such as the Butterfly Chair and Risom Outdoor Collection.

The next few days will be a non-stop schedule of showrooms, events and celebrations. We’re excited to share what’s to come and provide solutions that better serve the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport and Jackson markets. Follow along with us during our entire trip as we feature new products and trends on Facebook and Instagram @thinkaos and through our hashtag #thinkaos.
